
After the Treaty of Purandar and his escape from Agra, Shivaji Maharaj had slowed down his offensives against the Mughals and Bijapur.
However, the atrocities of Aurangzeb and his oppressive policies against the Marathas provoked Shivaji Maharaj to once again adopt an aggressive strategy.
From 1670 onward, the Marathas launched relentless raids, reclaimed lost territories, and marched through Mughal provinces.
Many brave Maratha generals laid down their lives in these campaigns, but their sacrifices were for a greater cause.
These long battles and ultimate sacrifices bore fruit when, on 6th June 1674, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj ascended the throne as the ruler of a sovereign state.
