About The Event
Vijay Vikram Singh narrates a great untold story.
Experience HEMU – The Last Hindu Emperor of India.
Vijay Vikram Singh, the instantly recognisable narrator of Bigg Boss, brings HEMU to life in a unique theatrical experience of voice, live music and moving images. A celebrated voice artist and actor, Vijay has also appeared in The Family Man, Mirzapur, Special Ops and other films and series, bringing to the performance both his extraordinary baritone and his experience as an actor.
Written by Mrinal Mathur, one of India's most prolific contemporary playwrights, whose acclaimed oeuvre of original plays has travelled across India and overseas, inviting audiences to question history, challenge assumptions and discover their own truths.
Directed by Sudheer Rikhari, the experience transforms a single voice into an entire civilisation. Emperors, generals, spies, fathers, fakirs and soldiers emerge through Vijay's performance, while live music and projected imagery create the world around them.
HEMU is historical fiction inspired by the rise of Hemu and the Second Battle of Panipat. From trader to spymaster, military commander, Prime Minister and Emperor of Delhi, Hemu rises by understanding what others overlook: information, commerce, movement and people. His battle is lost. His ideas survive.
A grand political play about the idea of India.
