Jhund, a dark comedy, unfolds in an unknown room where two strangers navigate their uncertain circumstances. Unsure if they`re there by choice or coercion, they grapple with fear, defending themselves against an indefinable threat. Amid absurd moments, an unknown authority keeps asking for things, making them question whom to trust and what they believe.
This comedy delves into themes of submission, freedom, and betrayal, revealing the fine line between compliance and rebellion in a gripping, compact narrative.
The play is inspired from and based on two source texts: Ashok Mishra’s Hindi Translation of Slawomir Mrozek’s play ‘Strip Tease’ and Ghanshyam Desai’s Gujarati short story `The Crowd`.
