About The Event
Jismaan Ton Paar (Beyond the Body) is a bold, intimate, hour-long solo performance tracing a trans man's journey to find himself.
Blending personal narrative, audience interaction, movement, poetry, humour, and musicality, this semi-autobiographical work explores dysphoria, belonging, the politics of clothing, accessibility, and public space with honesty, tenderness, and wit. While rooted in a trans experience, the play ultimately asks universal questions about identity, memory, home, and what it means to belong.
Produced by The Yellow Man Stories and selected for Uspaar's no-cost residency, the play has been featured in Mid-day and performed across Mumbai, Delhi, and Pune. It is currently on a journey of 100 performances across India and beyond, with 14 shows completed so far.
The work also centres the documentary film How Much Space Does a Firefly Take?, directed by Shubham Negi, which was selected for Nagari Film Festival 2025 and has also screened at Kala Ghoda Arts Festival 2026 and The Habitat, Khar.
The evening will also feature other queer artists who are to be announced yet.
