About The Event
Come experience a sundown experience rarely seen in the city on 11th October at the PCPA Amphitheatre, as part of the Bali in Bengaluru series, presented by Param Foundation with Prestige Centre for Performing Arts.
Kecak is a traditional Balinese dance-drama built around a large chorus who sit in a circle and create the entire soundscape through rhythmic chants of "cak" - no instruments, no gamelan, just voices. The form dates to the 1930s, drawing on the older sanghyang ritual and the Ramayana epic. Within the chanting circle, performers act out the Ramayana story, with characters like Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, Ravana and Hanuman taking center stage while the chorus drives the drama forward as much as any narrator would.
