MAZAAQ is a dramatisation of three short stories by the famous Russian playwright, Anton Chekhov. The first story, Drowning Man, deals with a guy, regularly performing a drowning act to earn a few Roubles. But one day, the whole thing goes haywire and ends rather ironically.
The second one called Bank Manager is about a woman who barges into a bank, forcing the manager to fulfill her grossly unreasonable demands. The play is replete with some deliciously comic exchanges between the two and ends with the manager virtually losing his mind.
The production ends with Surgery, a brilliant piece of comedy where a priest wants his painful tooth extracted. Unfortunately for him, the dentist is away and it's his inexperienced but highly confident assistant, who somehow convinces the priest that he can do a great job of it. The play is full of racy comic quips and the physical interaction between the two actors is truly humorous.
So, ladies and gentlemen, what awaits you is an evening full of fun and maddening laughter!
Last but not the least, the play is presented by Prism Theatre - the theater company credited with giving several new and entertaining productions to Hindi, Urdu & English Theatre: khidki, Hemlet, Happy End, Gangster Samiti, A Mother’s a Mother, Chaabdey, Couple Trouble, and So-Called Gentlemen.
