About The Event
Set in Lodhi Garden, New Delhi, Mera Woh Matlab Nahin Tha... is about two lovers Preetam Kumar Chopra and Hema Roy, who drifted apart for no apparent reason. They meet 35 years later, in the autumn of their lives and try to discover the truth behind their separation. It is not a love story, but a story about relationships, misunderstandings and awkwardness in dealing with the truth. It's amazing how someone who at some point meant the world to you, turns into merely an acquaintance over time. Mera Woh Matlab Nahi Tha... enthralls the audience keeping them in a web of wit and a range of emotions. Do Preetam and Hema forgive each other? Can they start their lives anew? Can women ever be on the same footing as men in our patriarchal social system? Will society allow two responsible individuals the freedom to live a life of their choice? The play also features a guest appearance by Rakesh Bedi.
