“Mombatti-Kaar” is the poignant story of a rural Rajasthani candle maker, Mombatti-Kaar, who moves with his family to the bustling city of Mumbai, lured by the dreams of prosperity and better opportunities for his children. However, the harsh reality of urban life and moral compromises he’s forced to make soon unravel his family’s happiness. As the family’s struggles deepen, Mombatti-Kaar begins to profit cynically by selling candles during public tragedies, losing his moral compass in the process. The play is a heartfelt exploration of ambition, poverty, moral decay, familial bonds, and the human cost of surviving in a cruel, profit-driven world.
