A romantic comedy about an obstinate and arrogant heiress who has married to satisfy the conditions of her father's will but whose marriage has not produced the hoped-for happiness. As one character after another arrives, we soon realize that everyone is sleeping with someone to whom they're not married, that those who are married are miserable, and that everyone's pre-eminent concern is money. The play is packed with Shaw's characteristic sparkling dialogue and keen social insight that is prevalent even in today's time.
