Synopsis of the Play:
Can art and artists be coincided or does one has to pave the way for the other to thrive?
An ode to desire, "Neel Kinara" is a beautiful exploration of the heart's endless longing for love, passion, and belonging. Set against the backdrop of Delhi, this Quiet Realism play follows Viyaan, a young thespian and budding writer struggling to pen his first play. As he scavenges for ideas from his surroundings, he begins to deeply question his own existence and purpose as an actor.
Ramya, a fellow thespian and Viyaan's love interest, mirrors this internal conflict. In the quiet moments between rehearsals, she sits alone with her thoughts, questioning their togetherness and the reality of her own situation. The rehearsal space-shared by Viyaan, Ramya, and Viyaan's friend Ronit-becomes a crucible for debate. Viyaan and Ronit find themselves entangled in an intense argument over the soul of creativity: Should an artist exploit their personal relationships and private emotions for creative gain? What truly constitutes "ethics" in the act of creation?
Life unfolds for them like a web of interconnected threads-vibrant yet dull, beautiful yet tragic-weaving a tale that leads Viyaan and Ramya toward a state of desolation. Adding a layer of magical realism, the play introduces an anthropomorphic character: a diary. It poses the haunting questions. What if the thoughts and words we write began to walk, talk, and advise us?
In this "diary tale," some threads are resolved, some are left frayed, and others are used to build a bridge between the characters and the audience. We invite you to meet them at that bridge and celebrate the beautiful, entangled mess of life together.
