A play designed by Chandini Agarwal and Jonas David P.T.A is a poignant and
heart-wrenching exploration of grief, misunderstanding, and the desperate search for
answers in the wake of an unimaginable event.
The play unfolds during a parent-teacher conference between Meera, a mother deeply concerned about her son Drona, and Karan, his teacher.
What begins as a formal meeting soon transforms into an emotional confrontation as Meera seeks to understand why Dhrona, her bright, kind, quiet child, was sent home with an omnious note asking for a parent meeting. Karan, wracked with guilt and uncertainty, struggles to explain the events leading up to this pivotal moment.
As the dialogue unravels, it becomes clear that Dhrona`s story is much more complex than
either of them initially understood.
The two are forced to face difficult truths about Dhrona`s behaviour, their own roles in his life, and the ways in which the school system as well as his home base may have failed him. The play weaves together themes of parental love, guilt, history and the power of information in unprepared hands.
PTA is an intimate portrayal of the two pillars of childhood, one parent and one teacher-bound by their love for a struggling child, yet divided by their differing perspectives. It touches on the raw, painful moments of parenthood and education, asking deep questions about blame, thought processes, and how society handles tragedy and the isolation that comes with it.
In the end, both characters are left to navigate their own sorrow, with no easy resolution to their profound emotional wounds.
This play’s powerful, emotional dialogue makes it an unforgettable experience, especially suited to audiences who appreciate intricate, character-driven narratives.
