About The Event
PONGAPANDIT is an uproarious socio-political satire that unravels a tale of a dim-witted king whose incapacity to make sound decisions for his realm forms the crux of the plot. The story takes an amusing turn when a fraudulent Sadhu Baba, during his chaotic pravachan (sermon), incites riots throughout the kingdom. In the ensuing confusion, the individuals involved in this crime start mentioning each other`s names, leaving the befuddled king even more perplexed. Sensing the need for intervention, the loyal Sipoy steps forward and deftly navigates the situation, leading everyone into a bewildering maze. Finally, to everyone`s astonishment, the foolish king manages to muster the courage to make a decision that sends shockwaves through the kingdom.
Presented as a folk play, PONGAPANDIT incorporates live songs and dances accompanied by traditional folk instruments such as Dholaki, Harmonium, and Manjiri. The team consists of a total of 30 members, including both on-stage and backstage artists, each showcasing their unique style. From the hilarious antics of the Sadhu, politician, and police officers to the comical behaviors of the queen, Sipoy, and ordinary people, the characters provide a constant source of laughter, creating a side-splittingly funny situation. This production promises to be a delightful treat for the audience, offering a "paisa vasool" (money`s worth) comedy experience.
