Ink-Ka-Laabh is a satirical yet moving play that explores the power of storytelling in shaping how we view war, patriotism, and sacrifice. The story follows Sparsh, a frustrated TV writer pressured to create formulaic patriotic scripts, whose life takes an unexpected turn when he meets Sepoy Javra Munda, a soldier with a sharp sense of humor and a deeply human perspective on conflict.
What begins as light, witty banter gradually opens into layered conversations about family, duty, loss, and the emotional cost of serving the nation. Through Javra’s stories ranging from the battlefield to his home. Sparsh is forced to confront the gap between the stories we consume and the realities soldiers live.
Blending live poetry, music, and shifts between comedy and pathos, the play questions the commodification of patriotism and challenges simplified narratives of heroism. As Sparsh digs deeper, he begins to understand the responsibility that comes with telling such stories, and how words can shape memory, perception, and legacy.
Ink-Ka-Laabh is both a tribute and a critique an attempt to humanise the uniform while asking whether we, as a society, are truly listening.
