About The Event
SAMAYA is a visually stunning and emotionally powerful movement theatre experience that brings together four distinct Indian art forms—Mohiniyattam, Yakshagana, Kalaripayattu, and Physical Theatre—to explore the timeless conflict between Sama (harmony) and Maya (illusion).
Performed entirely with movements, Samaya invites audiences into a cyclical journey through unity, disruption, desire, power, chaos, and eventual collapse. Each act unfolds through evocative movements and intense physical storytelling, highlighting the beauty and complexity of human nature.
This is not just a play—it’s a sensory spectacle, a reflection of our inner worlds, and a bold experiment in Indian theatre.
Samaya is created and performed by Emoticons Theatre, with months of dedication from a passionate ensemble and celebrated choreographers.
