About the Play: Sangeetha Mummoorthigal
After the successful completion of 180 shows worldwide of the earlier mesmerizing musical biopic Sri Thyagarajar, the same team of VSV, Bombay Jayashri, and T.V. Varadharajen have raised their new curtain with yet another musical Tamil drama: Sangeetha Mummoorthigal.
Unlike conventional biographical plays, Sangeetha Mummoorthigal explores the inner world of contemporary composers, their relationships, philosophies, and artistic conflicts that remain unexplored, allowing audiences—both familiar and new to Carnatic music—to engage deeply with the spirit behind the compositions.
Over 50 carefully curated Carnatic krithis, recorded by leading classical musicians with Sangita Kalanidhi 'Padmashri' Bombay Jayashri at the helm, mesmerize the rasikas and invite them to experience the play again and again. While rooted in Indian classical tradition, the production is structured to resonate with audiences in India and overseas through visual storytelling and emotional universality.
