About The Event
SatRang Mahotsav (The Rainbow Festival) is a 6-day queer theatre festival, held during Queer Pride Month.
It will happen at the Shreeram Lagoo Rang Avkash theatre, in Pune, Maharashtra, India, from the 16th to the 21st of June, 2026.
This is the first time a national queer theatre festival has been organised in India at this scale. The festival features 12 performances, including both world and regional premieres of new and
adapted work. Participants include stars of Marathi theatre, award-winning dancers, veterans of English theatre, established playwrights and directors, and buzzy debutants.
All of the performances have been written, directed and choreographed by queer artists across a spectrum of gender identities and sexual orientations.
The multilingual roster of shows ranges from theatrical drag to social commentaries to dance-theatre to slice of life comedy. Along with the performances, a series of panel discussions, workshops and round tables will offer participants a chance to interact with the creative expertise the participants have to offer.
Organised by, for and with the queer community, SatRangaM is produced by Deep Design, a production company whose team has over 20 years experience working in theatre and dance.
