SmaranniK’s New Play 'Sesh Shringo' (The Final Summit)!
Search for his long-lost painter friend urges the poet, Chitrabhanu, to constantly leave his home. Mahua, the poet’s wife being the silent witness of his behaviour in all these years becomes worried now because of the poet’s deteriorating health. Many characters appear in the play who try to help Mahua in the search for her husband. In the meantime, the audience witnesses a telephonic conversation between the poet and his wife where the poet talks about his friend and an unknown land. Despite the repeated requests from Mahua, Chitrabhanu refuses to return as he confirms that he has finally met his friend. The play slowly takes a turn when the autobiography of the poet gets published, and Mahua reads it.
The poet’s past discloses the relationship between Mahua and the poet’s painter friend, Samyabrata, the painter’s sudden disappearance, and the painter’s involvement in the then ultra-left revolution. Mahua’s battle with her own and the world she is living in raises many questions: how did the painter disappear? Where is the poet now? Will the past change Mahua’s life now? Will Chitrabhanu come back?
