Shmashaana Kurukshetram

This interpretation of KuVemPu’s Smashaana Kurukshetram, explores the text by giving voice to the silence, and bringing out emotions from the apathy described in the play. The interpretation is an effort at exploring the possibilities of depicting the unity in diversity of the country through vibrant costumes. Based on the Mahabharatha, the original text, Smashaana Kurukshetram revolves around the aftermaths of war and its repercussions on the human civilization and questions the human propensity for war. Kuvempu’s humanistic philosophy of life and his optimistic faith in human goodness, has made this text relevant for all times.
