About The Event
Peeyush Singh and live ‘Radio Theatre’
Close your eyes and you're listening to radio. Open them, and you're watching theatre. Welcome to Live Radio Theatre.
Experience storytelling in a form that's as intimate as radio and as immediate as live theatre. Which strips away elaborate sets and spectacle, leaving behind what has always mattered most: a great story, a gifted storyteller and an audience close enough to become part of the experience.
The presenter is Peeyush Singh, who has ruled the airwaves as Radio Ka Bachchan. Who has spent over 15 years turning voices, stories and everyday moments into unforgettable entertainment. A celebrated radio personality, storyteller and voice artist, he now brings that instinct to the stage.
The presentation is the Hindi play Teen Tumhari Taraf, a razor-sharp contemporary satire that journeys through a doctor's clinic, a family celebration, a housing society meeting, a women's organisation and a theatre rehearsal. As laughter builds, seemingly unrelated stories reveal an unexpected connection, exposing the contradictions we happily recognise in everyone; except ourselves.
Accompanied by a live musician whose rhythms become characters, transitions and emotional undercurrents, Peeyush doesn't simply read the script. He inhabits it. He slips effortlessly between voices, pauses, humour and silence, creating entire worlds with nothing more than language & timing. Imagination is the stage, just as in radio, but now with the electricity of a live audience sharing every laugh, every silence and every revelation. With intentionally limited seating, this is an invitation to experience storytelling from just a few feet away from the storyteller himself.
The play has been written by Mrinal Mathur, one of India's most prolific contemporary playwrights, whose acclaimed oeuvre of original plays has travelled across India and overseas, inviting audiences to question history, challenge assumptions and discover their own truths.
You won't leave talking about the set, the lights or the costumes. You'll leave having discovered – Live Radio Theatre.
