The play was originally written in French and staged in 1993. We are working to stage it in Hindi with the playwright’s permission. The play is essentially a metaphor for the fragmentation of the self and examines various states of alteration and of moral and physical decrepitude. It illuminates the psychological trauma of living under totalitarianism, by conjuring up an atmosphere of hopelessness and imprisonment and constant deployment of menace and threat that blurs the boundaries between actual and imaginary situations.
