About The Event
Through real letters written by people across different places and circumstances, this reading explores the things that make us feel we belong, and the things that take that feeling away. Of leaving and being left behind, of finding ourselves strangers in familiar places, of lives interrupted by loss, and of living in worlds that no longer seem to have room for us.
Some letters reach across borders. Others cross the distance between people, between who we once were and who we have become. They speak of loneliness, longing, love, injustice and the stubborn need to be seen and heard.
Together, these letters offer glimpses into lives that may be very different from our own, yet feel familiar. Because sometimes, even when we have nowhere to turn, there is still something to be found in telling our stories, and in having someone listen.
