Katha Kathan is extending the experience of original reading, to live narration of stories and poetry from Urdu and Hindi literature, celebrating the synchronous existence of the two languages that have enriched the vast plains of India over centuries. This dialogue of literature gets even more exciting with Katha Kathan adapting short stories of some of the greatest Urdu writers of the last century for the stage. Our first effort is bringing to life stories of, arguably, Urdu's most controversial writer, Saadat Hasan Manto. The stories being narrated by the impassioned members of Katha Kathan are Laanat Hai Aisi Dawa Par, Phooja Haramda, Sone Ki Angoothi and Deewana Shayar. These stories are ageless in their message, and are as relevant now, despite being written almost 60 to 80 years ago.
