About The Event
Saadat Hasan Manto`s "Toba Tek Singh" is a powerful satire on the absurdity and trauma of the 1947 India-Pakistan Partition, told through inmates of a Lahore asylum being exchanged between the new nations. The story centers on Bishan Singh, a Sikh from the village of Toba Tek Singh, who, upon learning his home is now in Pakistan, refuses to move, insisting he belongs in the no-man`s-land between barbed wires, symbolizing the loss of identity and the senselessness of the division.
