About The Event

About The Presentation:

RK Narayan’s philosophy of Simple Living and High Thinking merits a visit, especially by today’s gadget-breathing generation.

Theatrecian in association with Wisdom Curators and Go To Scale, embarked on a 12-week workshop series with young learners, rediscovering the adventures of Swami and Friends.

This original play attempts to weave a script that examines ‘progress’ in today’s terms. The music and lyrics are also original works that come together to celebrate the classic.

The play, set in the 1980s, opens with an unknown danger looming towards Malgudi. A simple yet vibrant town where boys and girls come together to play gully cricket after school. And, the grown-ups gather to chat around the town’s long-time establishment, a tea stall.

As we learn more about the impending change, as it grows to threaten beliefs and relationships amongst the children and the grown-ups, we question which values each holds dearest.

It is a quintessential struggle of progress against tradition and heritage. Who will step up to influence the decision? What will the people of Malgudi decide? We invite you to visit our town. And ask yourself, as all in Malgudi ask themselves: What Does Progress Mean To You?

(Theatrecian, in association with Wisdom Curators and Go To Scale, brings to you this Children’s Musical Theatrical Adventure. Theatrecian has brought to Delhi NCR in 2024, full house shows of ‘The Woman On Trial’, an Ayn Rand adaptation, and, ‘Twelve Angry Women’ an adaptation of Reginald Rose’s ‘Twelve Angry Men’, at LTG – Mandi House, and, Epicentre, Gurgaon.)
