WOMEN’S T20I MATCHES TO BE PLAYED ON 14th 17th & 20th Dec 2022.
Women’s Cricket has come a full circle to the Brabourne Stadium where it all started
almost 50 years ago. An elderly feisty Parsi lady Mrs. Aloo Bamjee, a member of the Club, started it all. Her club was named Albees.
Initially, they faced constant sneers and snide remarks as undeterred they walked on to the field in white skirts and shirts with a total of three pads – one for the Wicket keeper and two for the batsmen – the latter had to start unbuckling the pads as they walked back to the pavilion so the next one in, could put them on! No funds and the enthusiastic girls would travel at their own cost.
Among those who supported us were the Late Raj Singh Dungarpur, Vijay Merchant, and Arvind Apte.
Men with vision! Today, Women’s cricket is right up there – international stars in their right!
The last women’s world cup was held at this iconic ground.
To support our team the CCI, once again, is going that extra mile to ensure that our women get full support when they battle it out in the middle against the lively Aussies!
It has been decided to allow free access on the 14th to all cricket lovers. Girls and Women free access on all three days and very nominal charges on the 17th and 20th of December 2022.
