About The Event
This November, the flavours of India come together for the first time to one destination: the flagship Kahaani: Foods of India festival by Indophile, India's first chef-led regional food festival. Supported by the Incredible India programme and the state governments of Meghalaya, Karnataka and more, the festival will host 12 of the most interesting chefs from across the country, bringing their hyperlocal cuisines & indigenous ingredients to the Capital, offering attendees an unprecedented kaleidoscope of flavours ranging from Himalayan herbs to Lucknowi tehzeeb, from Kerala’s Syrian Christian history to the tribal flavours of the North East. Come and savour the spices, listen to the stories & immerse yourself in the art, handicrafts & songs that have shaped India through the generations.
Sample the flavours of Ladakh with Chef Jigmet Mingur, Bengal with Chef Samran Huda and Goa's Saraswat Brahmin community with Chef Shubhra Shankhwalkar. Savour Khasi delicacies by Chef Adonijah Lyngdoh, Surati, Kathiyawadi and Nadiadi dishes by Chefs Divya, Punita and Sandhya from Gujarat, and Uttarakhand's Himalayan Rasoi by Chef Yojana Khandhuri. Travel to the forests of Coorg with Chef Suraj Cariappa or Jharkhand with Dr. Manisha Oraon's Open Farm, or all the way to Kerala with Chef Tresa Francis. Let Chef Yimshen Naro Jamir introduce you to the Angami food of Nagaland--or enjoy the diverse flavours of the Indian barbeque from a specially-curated menu.
More stories will be told by our esteemed panellists from the industry, including AD Singh and Chef Suvir Saran, while Chefs Manish Mehrotra and Ritu Dalmia cook up a storm through their demos.
Explore the history of Indian kitchens through the IGNCA's Museum of Everyday Objects (from the Sanskriti Museum), simmering with tales in traditional household objects, kitchen utensils, cooking implements, storage vessels and more objects associated with daily domestic life.
The kahaanis will be layered with art installations, folk dance & musical performances, and an expansive bazaar area with street food vendors, special ingredients & handicrafts from different parts of the country.
