About The Event

Event Description

Witness the Ganga Ghats Transform into a River of a Million Lamps

Every year, on the full moon of Kartik Purnima, Varanasi becomes the most luminous city on Earth. Fifteen days after Diwali, the city celebrates Dev Deepawali "the Diwali of the Gods" when it`s believed the deities descend to bathe in the Ganga alongside mortals. Millions of diyas (oil lamps) are lit along the ghats, turning the riverfront into an unbroken ribbon of fire that stretches for kilometres. It`s one of the most photographed, most spiritually charged nights in India and this package puts you not on the crowded ghats, but out on the water itself, where the view (and the experience) is entirely different.

What Makes This Package Different

Most visitors watch Dev Deepawali from the steps shoulder to shoulder with tens of thousands of people, straining for a view over the crowd. This package puts you on a private bajra (traditional wooden boat), floating on the Ganga as the ghats light up around you in 360 degrees. And unlike a standard sightseeing boat ride, you`ll have a pandit ji on board with you, guiding you through an authentic Ganga puja, sankalp, diya offering, mantra chanting right there on the water, as the Ganga Aarti unfolds at Dashashwamedh Ghat in front of you.

The Experience

You`ll board your private bajra as dusk settles over the city. As the sky turns amber and then indigo, thousands of diyas begin appearing along the ghat steps, placed by hand, one by one, by volunteers and priests over the preceding hours. Your pandit ji will lead a short Ganga puja on board: an offering to Ganga Maa, a floating diya you release into the current, and mantras chanted as the ceremonial fire lamps (aarti) begin at the main ghat. From your boat, you`ll have a clear, unobstructed view of the grand Ganga Aarti performed by dozens of priests in unison, conch shells, temple bells, and Vedic chants carried across the water. As night deepens, the entire riverfront Assi Ghat to Rajghat glows with lamps, fireworks light up the sky over the river, and the reflection of a million flames dances on the water around your boat.

Why Book Through Trip To Temples

We specialize in pilgrimage experiences across India`s sacred circuits- Kailash Mansarovar, Char Dham, and the Jyotirlingas- and we`ve built this package the same way: rooted in authentic ritual, not just tourism. Boats and vantage points fill up fast for Dev Deepawali, often weeks in advance, and a puja performed by an experienced pandit on a moving boat needs proper coordination. We handle all of that so you can simply show up and experience it.

Who This Is For

Devotees seeking a meaningful ritual experience rather than a purely visual one; photographers and travellers who want an unobstructed view away from ghat crowds; families or groups wanting a safe, guided, comfortable way to witness Dev Deepawali; anyone visiting Varanasi who wants their trip to include genuine spiritual participation, not just sightseeing.

Puja on the water, not just sightseeing- an on-board pandit ji performs a live Ganga puja as part of the experience, not an optional add-on.

360 degree unobstructed view of the lamp-lit ghats and Aarti-  a private bajra gives you a vantage point the ghat crowds simply don`t get.

End-to-end handled by pilgrimage specialists- boat, priest, ritual items, and logistics are all pre-arranged by a brand built specifically around authentic Hindu pilgrimage experiences.
