Over the course of showbiz a career spanning around four decades, Akash Khurana has made his mark in Bollywood both as an actor and screenwriter. Besides these, he is also a celebrated theatre artist, and has directed and acted in several plays written by greats from Shakespeare to Samuel Beckett and Vijay Tendulkar.
Akash made his debut with the Shyam Benegal movie Kalyug in 1981, and has since appeared in around 60 feature films, primarily in character roles. As a screenwriter, he is best known for co-writing the Shah Rukh Khan starrers Baazigar (1993) and Duplicate (1998), the former of which won him a Filmfare Award for Best Screenplay in 1994.
The multi-faceted artist has also proven himself as a successful entrepreneur, having served as the Chief Creative Officer, Chairman and MD at the media conglomerate Nimbus Communications. Notable acting credits include Saaransh (1984), Saudagar (1991), the crime-thriller Company(2002), the superhero film Krrish (2006), the comedy-drama Barfi! (2012) and Karwaan (2018).
