A veteran of more than 200 films and TV series, Beena Banerjee is a TV and film actress whose career spans more than 45 years. The veteran star who has worked extensively in both Bengali and Hindi films is best known for playing mostly supporting and character roles; in the later part of her acting career, she played the role of a mother to the lead actors. Beena Banerjee who is also often credited her as Bina in many of her films made her debut on the silver screen with Doosra Aadmi in 1977.

Following her debut, the actress starred in films like Satyam Shivam Sundaram: Love Sublime (1978) and Shikshaa (1979), before eventually gaining recognition for her role in the 1980 film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge where she played the role alongside Desh Gautam and Tariq Shah. Post-1980, Beena got many offers and she was one of the busiest actresses working with several renowned directors and actors. Some of her other notable film credits include Ayaash (1982), Aakhir Kyon? (1985), Tejaa (1990), Khuda Gawah (1993), Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994), Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya (1997), Lajja (2001), Viruddh... Family Comes First (2005), and Khuda Kasam (2010).

Apart from films, the actress has also worked in many TV shows like Uttaran (2009-13), Tera Sherer Mein (2015) and Dil Sambhal Jaa Zara (2017).
