V. Gopinathan Nair, popularly known as Bharath Gopi, was an Indian actor and filmmaker. Having started his career as a theatre actor, he made his film debut with the drama film Swayamvaram (1972). Gopi received National Film Award for Best Actor for his role as Sankarankutty in Kodiyettam (1977).
His other notable movies are Palangal (1981), Yavanika (1982), Kattathe Kilikoodu (1983),
Panchavadi Palam (1984) and Ormakkayi (1982). In 1991, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri award for his contributions to the arts. Bharath Gopi passed away on the 29th of January, 2008, in Kerala.
