Bhavna Pani is a Mumbai-based accomplished theatre and film actress, writer-director, choreographer, and professional Indian classical dancer specializing in Odissi and Kathak styles since the age of six. A Sringar Mani awardee, Bhavna has received accolades for her recent stage work with Naseeruddin Shah in two of his (Motley`s) productions, Aurat and The Father. She also won the META Award 2013 (Best Actress) for QTP`s So Many Socks, directed by Quasar Padamsee. Additionally, she has been a part of various productions by AGP World in the past.
After acting as the lead in more than 14 feature films (both in Hindi and South Indian cinema, including the blockbuster Vettam, directed by Priyadarshan) and appearing in over 75 TV commercials, Bhavna went on to star in the title role of an international stage musical, Bharati, for a decade. The musical, with over 1,500 shows, successfully ran in more than 15 countries across the world-primarily in Europe (France), Africa, and Canada-earning rave reviews and international fanfare.
With over two decades of experience across multiple art forms, Bhavna now runs her own performing arts company, Just B Repertory, while continuing to perform and teach Odissi, touring across India and abroad. She is currently donning a new hat as the director of the internationally acclaimed musical extravaganza, Ashvin Gidwani`s Devdas.
