Cate Shortland is an Australian writer and director, who has worked on movies and TV shows. She wrote and directed various award winning short films, before making her debut as a big screen director with Somersault (2004). The movie was shortlisted in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival. Shortland went on to direct the critically acclaimed historical drama, Lore (2012). The movie was Australia’s official entry for the Best Foreign Language Oscar at the 85th Academy Awards, but it couldn’t make the final list. Shortland has also directed TV show episodes for shows like Bad Cop, Bad Cop (2002–2003) and The Secret Life of Us (2001–2006). In 2017 Shortland directed Teresa Palmer and Max Riemelt in the horror, mystery- Berlin Syndrome.
