Winner of the 2017 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series and the 2018 Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album, Dave Chappelle is an American comedian, actor, writer and producer. His showbiz career started when he was in high school, as a stand-up comedian; while the musical adventure comedy Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993) was Chappelle`s feature film debut in a credited role.
Over the years, the actor has made his mark in American cinema and television through his performances in the romantic comedy You`ve Got Mail (1998), the stoner comedy Half Baked (1998), the action comedy Undercover Brother (2002) and the sketch comedy series Chappelle`s Show (2003-`06). While the hit comedy album The Age of Spin & Deep in the Heart of Texas (2017) won Chapelle his maiden Grammy Award, it was his work in the late-night live television variety show Saturday Night Live that won the comedian his first Primetime Emmy Award. Other notable acting credits in recent times include the musical crime film Chi-Raq (2015) and the musical romantic drama A Star is Born.
