Edith “Edie” Falco is an American actress of stage, television, and films. She is best known for her performance as Diane Whittlesey in Oz (1997 - 2000), and as Carmela Soprano in The Sopranos (1999 - 2007). She has also essayed the titular character on the TV series Nurse Jackie (2009 - 2015) for which she won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. One of the most prominent roles of her career came with the TV series The Sopranos for which she won two Golden Globe Awards, three Primetime Emmy Awards, and five Screen Actors Guild Awards. Falco began her movie career in the late ‘80s and has appeared in movies such as Laws of Gravity (1992), Cost of Living (1997), Freedomland (2006), Gods Behaving Badly (2013), and The Comedian (2016). Her 2017 releases include the movies Landline and Megan Leavey.
