A veteran music director, singer, lyricist and script writer, Gangai Amaran is known for his work in the Tamil cinema. Amaran who started his career in the film industry as a director made his directorial debut with Kozhi Koovuthu (1982); the director-turned-musician made his debut as a music director with Vamsa Vilakku (1984). His other popular movies that he has composed for includes Vazhey Maayam (1982), Puthiya Sagaptham (1985), Pachai Kodi (1990), Aadthidyan (1993) and Atha Maga Rathiname (1994). His 2017 release includes Senjittale En Kadhala starring Ezhil Durai, Madhumila and Abhinaya in the lead roles.
