Gerard James Butler, better known as Gerard Butler, is a Scottish actor, producer and singer. He made his professional acting debut in the 1997 British drama film Mrs. Brown, and has since appeared in over 40 films in a career spanning over two decades.
Butler`s breakthrough role came in 2000, when he played the titular role in the vampire horror film Dracula 2000. In the subsequent years, the actor reaffirmed his status as a bankable leading man through his performances in popular films like The Phantom of the Opera (2004), 300 (2007) and P.S. I Love You (2007). While his performance in The Phantom of the Opera earned Butler a Satellite Award nomination for Best Actor, the portrayal of King Leonidas in the blockbuster epic war film 300 earned him an Empire Award nomination for Best Actor.
Since his debut as a producer in the critically acclaimed crime drama thriller Law Abiding Citizen (2009), Butler has produced a several films, notably, Olympus Has Fallen (2013), London Has Fallen (2016) and A Family Man (2016).
