Kannada filmmaker and screenwriter Guru Deshpande is perhaps best known for directing the comedy-drama Raja Huli (2013) and the action thriller Rudra Tandava (2015), the latter of which also wrote. Subsequently, Guru helmed the remake of the Malayalam comedy Amar Akbar Anthony (2015) titled John Jani Janardhan, which went on to be a commercial success. Among the director`s more recent ventures is the 2018 action thriller Samhaara, which starred Chiranjeevi Sarja and Haripriya in the lead roles. His 2019 credit includes Paddehuli, directed by Guru Deshpande. His 2020 release includes Gentleman.
