Hugh Richard Bonneville Williams, better known by his screen name Hugh Bonneville is a popular British stage, TV and film actor who gained wide popularity and fame for portraying the role of `Robert Crawley` in the period drama series Downton Abbey (2010-15). Bonneville, a BAFTA, EMMY and Golden Globe Award nominee started his acting career as a theater artist; his first professional stage appearance was at the Open Air Theater in Regent`s Park. In 1987, the actor joined the National Theater group and four years later, in 1991, he moved to the Royal Shakespeare Company where he featured in The Two Gentlemen of Verona and Tis Pity She`s a Whore. Having worked in the theater and TV industry for a considerable period, Bonneville got his first big break on the silver screen with Mary Shelley`s Frankenstein in 1994 and over the years he has starred in more than 25 films.
