Laverne Cox (Cox) is an American actress, reality television star and a television producer. Cox is best known for her portrayal of Sophia Burset on the Netflix television series"Orange Is the New Black". Cox`s various acting credits include Grandma, The Exhibitionists, Law & Order(TV Series)and Musical Chairs. She won the Daytime Emmy Award in Outstanding Special Class Special category for "Laverne Cox Presents: The T Word" in 2015.
Cox appeared as a contestant on the first season of VH1`s reality show I Want to Work for Diddy, and later co-produced and co-hosted the VH1 makeover television series TRANSform Me. In June 2014, Cox became the first openly transgender person to appear on the cover of Time magazine, Cosmopolitan magazine and with her February 2018 cover on the South African edition.
