Nominated in the Most Promising Newcomer category at the British Independent Film Awards for the crime-drama, Urban Hymn (2015), Letitia Michelle Wright is a Guyanese-born British actress. In 2011 she made her acting debut on TV with the long running medical drama, Holby City (1999- ). The same year Wright also made her silver screen debut with the action-drama by Alex Pillai, Victim. Over the years she has appeared in movies like My Brother the Devil (2012), Urban Hymn (2015) and The Commuter (2018). Wright has also been a part of TV series` like Top Boy (2011- ), Coming Up (2003- ), Chasing Shadows (2014), Banana (2015), Cucumber (2015), Doctor Who (2005- ), Humans (2015- ), and Black Mirror (2011- ).
Wright`s biggest break came in 2018 when she played Shuri in the 18th Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) superhero movie, Black Panther. Shuri is the genius half-sister of T`Challa a.k.a. the Black Panther, played by Chadwick Boseman. Wright will reprise her character in the Marvel movie, Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). Apart from this, Wright will also be seen in Steven Spielberg`s sci-fi action extravaganza, Ready Player One (2018). The movie is based on the book of the same name, written by Ernest Cline. She then gave her voice for Sing 2 (2021). Her 2022 releases include Death on the Nile, The Silent Twins and Aisha. She then reprised her role as Shuri in
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022). Her next release was Surrounded (2023).
