Best remembered for portraying the role of Simran Bhargav in the 2001 suspense thriller Kasoor, Lisa Ray is a Canadian actress, social activist, philanthropist and TV host. After making her onscreen debut with Hanste Khelte (1994), Lisa starred in the Tamil action-drama film Nethaji (1996) opposite R. Sarathkumar, which marked her maiden appearance in a lead role. After her first few films failed to get her attention or recognition, the actress rose to fame with her role in Kasoor (2001) and later won several laurels for her brilliant performance in the Academy award-nominated film Water (2005). A few of her other popular films include All Hat (2007), The World Unseen (2008), Let the Game Begin (2010), Veerappan (2016), Ishq Forever (2016) and Dobaara: See Your Evil (2017) directed by Prawaal Raman. She also appeared in the Amazon Prime Video web series, Four More Shots Please! Her 2021 release includes the musical romantic film 99 Songs, directed by Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy.
