The son of writer-director Peter Hedges who gave us films like Whats Eating Gilbert Grape (1993) and Pieces of April (2003), Lucas Hedges is perhaps best known for his Academy Award nominated performance in the 2016 drama film Manchester By the Sea. He debuted in Hollywood with a minor role in his fathers film Dan in Real Life (2007), and has since appeared in over a dozen movies, notable among which are Wes Andersons Moonrise Kingdom (2012), the biographical crime thriller Kill the Messenger (2014) and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017).
Having established himself as one of the most promising young actors in Hollywood through a diverse range of roles, Hedges was nominated for a BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2017. Other significant acting credits include Labor Day (2013), the coming-of-age comedy-drama Lady Bird (2017) and Boy Erased (2018), Honey Boy (2019), Waves (2019).
