Peter Gallagher is an American actor, musician and writer. He is best known for his portrayal of Sandy Cohen in the television drama series The O.C. and Covert Affairs. Peter made his acting debut with the film The Idolmaker (1980) but shot to fame for his role in Sex, Lies and Videotape (1989). Some of his most notable works include The Player (1992), While You Were Sleeping (1995), American Beauty (1999), The Last Debate (2000), Mr. Deeds (2002), Adam (2009) and Step Up Revolution (2012). His 2019 release includes After, directed by Jenny Gage. In 2021, he appeared in the romantic comedy movie Palm Springs.
