Hailing from Hyderabad, India Rajiv Chilaka studied Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering at Osmania University in Hyderabad before moving to Kansas City to pursue a course in software engineering. After studying at the University of Missouri for three years, Rajiv switches courses and enrolled himself at the Academy of Art University, San Francisco, where he studied animation.

He moved back to India in 2001 and established Green Gold Animation, along with his elder brother Srinivas Chilaka, and its first project was the 2003 animated series Bongo, which was about an alien who happens to find his way on Earth. The series paved way from Green Gold`s second project, the 80-minute-long Vikram Betal on Cartoon Network. Soon after Vikram Betal, Cartoon Network`s sister-concern Pogo agreed to air their next venture Chhota Bheem in 2008. Having opened to positive reviews, the series went on to have about 130 episodes in multiple languages as of 2012 and also had movies added to the series.

Meanwhile, Rajiv worked on other animated series such as Krishna & Balram, Chorr Police, Mighty Raju, Luv Kushh, and Arjun: The Prince of Bali, and also has directed four theatrical movies - Chhota Bheem and the Curse of Damyaan, Chhota Bheem and the Throne of Bali, Chhota Bheem Himalayan Adventure and Mighty Raju - Rio Calling. Currently, Green Gold Animation is considered to be the largest animation production company in India, and Rajiv has won several awards and accolades for his work in the space of animation.
