About
Academy Award nominated English actress Rosamund Pike was born in London to a family of musicians: her mother was a classical violinist and her father was an opera singer. Following a childhood that was spent across Europe, she ventured into acting at a very young age through stage productions like Romeo and Juliet and Skylight. Soon afterwards, Pike made her television debut in 1998 with the BBC telefilm A Rather English Marriage.

The Bond movie Die Another Day (2002) marked Pike`s feature film debut, where she starred alongside Pierce Brosnan and Halle Berry. Her performance in the movie earned the actress the Empire Award for Best Newcomer that year. In the years that followed, Pike underlined her ability to portray a wide range of characters through her work in acclaimed films like The Libertine (2004), Pride & Prejudice (2005) and An Education (2009). While she won the British Independent Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for The Libertine, the coming-of-age drama An Education and Made in Dagenham (2010), earned Pike back-to-back BIFA nominations.

In 2014, Pike starred in David Fincher`s psychological thriller Gone Girl, an adaptation of Gillian Flynn`s novel of the same name. Besides emerging as a box office hit, the film garnered rave reviews and Pike`s performance was universally well-received. She was nominated for an Academy Award, the Golden Globes and the BAFTA Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of Amy Elliott Dunne in Gone Girl. Pike also won the London Critics Circle Film Award for British Actress of the year in 2014, thanks to Gone Girl and the comedy-drama What We Did on Our Holiday (2014). The comedy-drama Barney`s Version (2010), the action thriller Jack Reacher (2012), the sci-fi comedy The World`s End (2013), the Western film Hostiles (2017), 7 Days In Entebbe (2018), The Informer (2019) and Radioactive (2020) are some of the actress` other significant works in recent times. Her other movies include A Private War and Now You See Me: Now You Don't.
