Shruti Seth started out in the industry as a model, to just earn "extra pocket money". She rose to fame when she played the role of Jiya Malhotra in the Star Plus serial Shararat where she plays a young fairy. Her long stint in the show, opened the doors of new opportunities for her, as she soon made her Bollywood debut in the film Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II. She also made appearances in supporting roles in numerous popular films like Fanaa (2006), Ta Ra Rum Pum (2007), Slumdog Millionaire (2008), Aagey Se Right (2009) and the Prakash Jha multi-starrer Rajneeti (2010). Anchoring has also become Shruti Seth's strong suit, ever since she worked on the popular show Comedy Circus moving on to Mum, Tum aur Hum, and was associated with other versions of Comedy Circus namely Comedy Circus Bachao, Kaante ki Takkar, Comedy Circus 20-20 among others.
