Smriti Irani (Irani) is an Indian Politician, Former model, actress and Producer. She started her career as a Model and was the finalist of the beauty pageant Femina Miss India 1997 but she came into limelight when she appeared in the TV series Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, as Tulsi. She also played the role of Sita in Zee TV`s Ramayan in 2001.
She has been Minister of Women and Child Development since 2019, and Minister of Minority Affairs since 2022 (as the first non-Muslim to hold the position). She previously served as Minister of Human Resource Development (2014 to 2016), Minister of Textiles (2016 to 2021), and Minister of Information and Broadcasting (2017 to 2018). She was the youngest minister (at age 43) in Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s second ministry in 2019.
In 2001, Smriti married a Parsi businessman, Zubin Irani. In October of the same year, the couple had their first child, a son named Zohr. In September 2003, the couple had their second child, a daughter named Zoish. Smriti is also a stepmother to Shanelle, Zubin Irani`s daughter from his previous marriage to Mona Irani, a coordinator and former beauty contestant.
