Selvam, popularly known by his stage name Stunt Silva, is one among the most sought-after action directors in contemporary South Indian cinema. After working at a variety of jobs from a medical orderly to an office peon, he ventured into the film world in 2002, as an assistant to stunt choreographer Peter Hein. Subsequently, he made his debut as a stunt director with the S.S. Rajamouli film Yamadonga in 2007. Since then, Silva has choreographed stunt sequences for popular films like Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (2010), Thalaivaa (2013), Thani Oruvan (2015), Oppam (2016) and 2.0 (2018). Besides these, Silva has also ventured into Marathi and Sinhalese film industries through Baji (2015) and Pravegaya (2015).

Silva has also dabbled in acting, primarily in supporting roles with a negative shade. Notable acting credits include 7/G Rainbow Colony (2004), Bommarillu (2006), Velayutham (2011), Yennai Arindhaal (2015), Street Lights (2018) and the 2018 bilingual horror thriller Kanam (a.k.a. Karu).
