About
Oscar-winning film editor Tom Cross started out in Hollywood as an assistant editor, working in movies like Lulu on the Bridge (1998), Ride with the Devil (1999), We Own the Night (2007) and Crazy Heart (2009) early on in his career.
Since his debut as an independent editor with the film The Space Between in 2010, Cross has helmed the editorial department in acclaimed movies like Whiplash (2014), La La Land (2016) and Hostiles (2017). It was Cross' work in the drama film Whiplash that earned him the Academy Award for Best Achievement in Film Editing in 2015. A frequent collaborator of filmmaker Damien Chazelle, Cross reunited with him for the third time in 2018 for the biographical drama First Man, which was based on the landmark Apollo 11 mission and starred Ryan Gosling in the lead role.
