Always a part of school plays, Vaibhav had been intrigued by acting since he was a young boy. He went on to study engineering at the College of Engineering in Pune, where he continued to perform at local plays. He gained immense praise for his acting abilities at the local theater, which encouraged to pursue a career in acting. After completing his studies in 2010, he moved to Mumbai the next year, in 2011, in order to join the entertainment industry. He debuted in 2011 with the Marathi movie Fakt Ladh Mhana, which managed to do moderately well at the box office. Three years after his debut, he made his debut in a lead role in the 2014 Marathi movie Surajya. Making his Bollywood debut, Vaibhav was seen in the Gulshan Devaiah-starrer adult comedy Hunterrr in 2015. In 2016, he garnered widespread acclaim for his portrayal of Chimaji Appa in Sanjay Leela Bhansali`s epic historical romance Bajirao Mastani. The same year, he was seen in a series of Marathi movies such as Mr. and Mrs. Sadachari, Cheater, and Kanha. His 2017 release includes Lipstick Under My Burkha. His 2019 release includes Readymix.
